Wizard With a Gun developer Galvanic Games is closing down

Galvanic Games, the studio behind Wizard With a Gun, is shutting down.

Posting to X, president and founder Patrick Morgan wrote: “With a heavy heart I announce the closure of Galvanic Games.”

Despite claiming that Wizard with a Gun got off to a “promising” start, sales of the title were not enough to sustain the studio.

“I may never get over the irony of spending a decade building my ideal team, only for it to end after our most productive year,” Morgan wrote.

“The dedication, creativity, and hard work of every person on our team have been nothing short of extraordinary.

“Thank you for the support and memories. We are grateful for the journey and hope that our paths will cross again in the future.”

Galvanic’s closure is the latest blow in an tough period for the video game industry.

Last week, Avalanche Studios Group announced that ‘significant restructuring’ would see 50 employees laid off.

Avalanche will shut its New York and Montreal studios, leaving it with locations in Stockholm and Malmo in Sweden, and Liverpool in the UK.

Dozens of studios, both independent outfits and larger tentpole developers, have suffered layoffs in 2024.

Beyond that, high-profile studios such as Microsoft‘s Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin have been shut down entirely.
