Watch Ryan Gosling Brood For 100 Minutes In New 4K Steelbook Edition Of Drive
Get ready to slip into your favorite pair of fingerless leather gloves, because Drive is making its way to 4K Blu-ray with a new steelbook edition. First released in 2011, Drive starred Ryan Gosling as a Hollywood stunt driver by day and a wheelman at night for various criminals looking to make a quick getaway. Along the way, Gosling’s character of the “Driver” falls in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene, and after a heist goes wrong, he finds himself in for the ride of his life as he has to outrun a syndicate out for blood.
The film was Gosling’s breakout role, and it included a terrific number of chase sequences, an intense fight sequence inside of an elevator, and the coolest satin jacket in cinema. For the 4K release, Amazon has it listed for $46–these are typically “starting” prices so expect it to get cheaper–with a release date of August 26. Like many other 4K Blu-ray releases, you’ll also get the film on a standard Blu-ray disc and a digital streaming key.
For the extras, you’re getting a very cool steelbook cover soaked in neon colors, and the disc includes several pieces of behind-the-scenes bonus content. An all-new featurette, Back in the Driver’s Seat, has interviews with the writers of Drive, composer Cliff Martinez, and stars Ron Perlman and Christina Hendricks. There’ll also be several short documentaries inherited from the previous Blu-ray release of Drive and you can expect some promotional material like the film trailer to make the cut as well.
If you’re looking to add a few more Blu-rays to your collection, you can also check out these deals for the Castlevania anime series, grab some (expensive) Friends on physical media, and relive a more bodacious time in cinema with this preorder for Point Break.
