These Friends Will Be There For You (For A High Price)
The ’90s were arguably the decade with the best sitcom shows, and for anyone growing up in that time period, nothing was better than hanging out with Ross, Rachel, Monica, Joey, Phoebe, and Chandler. Friends was one of the hottest shows of its era, and if you’re looking to revisit that series, a new 4K Blu-ray collection is available for preorder.
Friends: The Complete Series will be released on September 24, and like the standard Blu-ray box set from 2012, it includes all 10 seasons of the show. If that is too long to wait, you can get the regular Blu-ray box set for just $43.70, and this is a rock-solid 1080p upgrade of the show.
Now in ultra-high-definition, the collection also comes with gag reels, behind-the-scenes extras, and most importantly of all, the original “I’ll Be There For You” music video by The Rembrandts. If this collection has inherited the extras from previous releases, you can expect around 20 hours of bonus material.
The other neat fact with this box set is that it’s being released on the 30th anniversary of Friends, as the show’s first episode was broadcast all the way back in September 1994. This will be a pricy collection–$250–but Amazon usually cuts the price on DVD and Blu-ray preorders as the release date draws closer. As a reminder, you won’t be charged when you preorder, as Amazon will only take your cash after it ships and you’ll be charged the lowest price offered between the time you order and release.
There are plenty of other upcoming releases to keep an eye out for as well. You can’t go wrong with a 4K version of the classic Keanu Reeves action film Point Break, the original SpongeBob Squarepants Movie is ready to weird out a whole new generation, and the Weird Al comedy UHF is getting its first-ever 4K release.
