The Until Dawn movie has finished filming

The Until Dawn movie has finished principal filming, the director has announced.

David F Sandberg posted to Instagram to confirm that the upcoming horror film has concluded filming in Budapest, Hungary.

The film, which began shooting in August, is an adaptation of the PS4 horror game. It’s planned for release in October 2025.

The Until Dawn film was written by Gary Dauberman, who also serves as a producer on the project. Dauberman wrote the Annabelle series and co-wrote It and It: Chapter Two.

The cast includes Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and Peter Stormare. Stormare will reprise his role from the original game as Dr Hill, although it appears he will be the only member of the original game’s star-studded cast to reprise their character.

“I’ve been longing to do horror again after Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, and this film explores the many great subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible,” Sandberg told The Hollywood Reporter.

A PS5 version of Until Dawn was released this week.

The game, which has been remastered for PS5 includes several new endings that may point to a sequel.

Until Dawn is developed by Woking, UK-based Ballistic Moon, which last month announced significant layoffs intended to “secure the future” of the studio.

Ballistic Moon was founded in 2020 by Duncan Kershaw, Neil McEwan and Chris Lamb, who all previously worked together at Supermassive Games, the developer behind 2015’s Until Dawn for PS4.
