The Sims movie is in the works at Margot Robbie’s production company

A feature film adaptation of Electronic Arts’ The Sims franchise is in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will produced by LuckyChap, the company run by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerly, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr, along with Roy Lee (Lego movies) and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment.

LuckyChap produced last year’s top grossing film, Barbie, as well as Saltburn. The Sims adaptation is set to be helmed by Loki season one director Kate Herron.

EA’s life simulation video game series debuted in 2000 and has seen four mainline releases as well as various spin-offs and numerous expansions.

The Sims 4 was released in 2014 and generated over $1 billion in revenue within five years, according to EA. The game adopted a free-to-play model in October 2022, helping it reach ”more than 70 million players”.
