The Pokémon Company donates 50m JPY to support earthquake victims

The Pokémon Company has announced it will donate 50 million JPY (around $345,750) to support those affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Japan.

On New Year’s Day, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the country, devastating many neighbourhoods and killing at least 92 people.

The earthquake also triggered a small tsunami that flooded at least 296 acres of land, according to Japan’s land ministry.

As of Friday, Japan’s Self-Defense Forces doubled the number of troops taking part in rescue efforts to 4,600, according to the Kyodo news agency.

The Pokémon Company said yesterday it would support efforts to help those affected by the disaster.
