Take-Two is reportedly planning to close or sell its indie label, Private Division

Take-Two is looking to sell or shut down its indie label, Private Division, in addition to closing Kerbal Space Program 2 developer Intercept Games and OlliOlli World developer Roll7, it’s claimed.

In April, Take-Two said it planned to lay off 5% of its workforce, or around 600 people. This was followed by a Bloomberg report which claimed it had seen documentation revealing that two of the casualties of this restructuring were Roll7 and Intercept.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick later claimed that the publisher didn’t shut down the studios. However, a new IGN report claims to have independently confirmed that Intercept is set to close on June 28, and that Roll7, is also winding down, though a small team remains to “tie up loose ends”.

Furthermore, the report claims that Take-Two wants to offload Private Division, either by a sale or closure.

IGN claims that employees were told in February that layoffs were imminent. Then, at the end of April, employees of the label were reportedly told by management that Take-Two would no longer support the label, and staff were laid off.

It’s claimed that a small team remains at Private Division to support its remaining announced games, including Moon Studios‘ No Rest for the Wicked, Wētā Workshop’s Tales of the Shire, and an untitled project from Game Freak.

Take-Two recently backed out of deals for projects from Bloober Team, and Ghostrunner developer One More Level.

Take-Two acquired Roll7 in November 2021. At the time, Private Division said it would “empower” the studio to continue creating its signature “flow state gaming” experiences.
