Submit a letter and we’ll print it in the VGC book
VGC is currently accepting entries this weekend for the Letters page of our book.
If you missed the news last month, VGC is releasing its first book, The 2025 Guide to Video Games, and you can pre-order it now, with VGC Patreon members receiving an exclusive discount.
Inspired by classic gaming magazines of the past, the book will feature separate News, Previews and Reviews sections, and special cover art by Wil Overton, the much-loved illustrator of countless iconic British magazines, such as Super Play and N64 Magazine.
Because it takes inspiration from magazines, we also plan to have a Letters section in the book, where readers can send us their thoughts on any topic in video games.
Our VGC Patrons were given the first opportunity to submit letters for the book and we have space for just a few more, so if you’d like a chance to get your name in the book, send your ‘letter’ (i.e. an email) to chris.scullion@videogameschronicle.com with the subject header “Book Letter”.
Although there’s no set length, we’d suggest longer is better because we can cut down a long letter to fit the page, but we can’t lengthen a short one. We feel a lot less comfortable about putting words in your mouth than we are about taking them out!
A disclaimer: as was the case with magazines back in the day, we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to print every letter we receive, and we can’t promise we won’t be a little sarcastic with our reply in the book (given that it’s inspired by the early ’90s era).
Although most will know VGC for its online news, many of our writers came from a print background, in the days when game magazines packed newsagent shelves, writing for the likes of CVG, Official Nintendo Magazine, and PC Zone.
Physical media is something dear to our hearts, so when we were presented with the opportunity to create a VGC book by publisher Pen & Sword, naturally, we jumped at the chance.
When it releases early next year, VGC: The 2025 Guide to Video Games will offer a compendium of our best work from the year, presented as a physical, hardcover book designed to be collected and kept.
We’ll share more information on VGC: The 2025 Guide to Video Games closer to its release, which is currently scheduled for February 2025.
For now, however, you can pre-order the book at its publisher Pen & Sword Books, or from other online book sellers including Amazon UK and Amazon US. More retailers will add the book as the release nears.
