Starfield Adds 60FPS On Xbox Series S Along With Other Performance Updates

All eyes might have been on the Rev-8 land vehicle introduced to Starfield yesterday, but the update also provides another treat for the eyes. Bethesda Game Studios has revealed that Xbox Series X display settings are now matched on Series S. That means 60fps is available as an option on the smaller system.

On X, Bethesda detailed the visual enhancements as part of Starfield’s August update. While the Rev-8 land vehicle and Shattered Space DLC release-date announcements were the major highlights at Gamescom Opening Night Live, there is more meat on the bone with this new patch. For instance, Starfield players can now select from 30, 40, 60, and uncapped fps options if they’re using a VRR display. Meanwhile, others can choose either 30fps or 60fps, including on Xbox Series S.

Additionally, Starfield now offers the ability to “prioritize between Visuals and Performance while trying to maintain the frame rate target,” per Bethesda. While the developer recommends picking Performance for 60fps and above, players aren’t forced to do so. Meanwhile, shallow puddles should now sport better reflections, too.

This August update follows the Starfield June update, which introduced the Creations menu to the game alongside bounty boards and melee-weapon improvements. As for the Rev-8, GameSpot has you covered on how to get the planet rover in Starfield.
