Silent Hill 2 remake’s ending has been streamed on YouTube a week before the game’s release

Silent Hill 2‘s ending, as well as multiple secret endings, have been streamed on YouTube, with clips of the streams circulating social media.

It’s believed that the user streaming the game acquired a physical copy early. The game is due for release on October 8.

While it’s likely that the archive of the YouTube stream – which VGC has seen and can confirm its authenticity, but won’t link to – will quickly be deleted by the copyright holders, at the time of writing the VOD of the stream has amassed thousands of views.

Clips from the stream have also started to appear on social networking platforms, which will make stemming the tide of leaks virtually impossible.

The first Silent Hill 2 review was published earlier this week in Japanese magazine Famitsu.

Silent Hill 2 received a 35/40 overall score, with each individual score breaking down into 8/9/9/9.

According to the review, the game takes 16 to 18 hours to clear, with a translated excerpt stating that “the sense of realism and creepiness brought by the beautiful visuals and sound is incredible”.

“Crucially, for the health of the series, Silent Hill 2 feels like it’ll be exactly the kind of shot in the arm that will bring the series back into vogue,” we wrote.

“The Resident Evil remake comparisons will likely be inescapable, but is that a bad thing when Capcom’s latest efforts have been just as genre-defining for modern survival horrors as both Resident Evil and Silent Hill were in the genre’s nascent days?”
