Sam Barlow’s Immortality will be released for PS5 this month

Immortality, the “interactive cinematic trilogy” from Her Story creator Sam Barlow, is coming to PS5 this month.

Featuring “new haptic and controller speaker features to bring to life the game’s virtual moviola”, the game will hit Sony’s console on January 23 priced at $19.99.

Released for PC, Xbox Series X/S and mobile in 2022, Immortality tells the story of vanished actress Marissa Marcel.

It lets players “use the cinematic ability to teleport from scene to scene to explore a treasure trove of newly unearthed footage from the three lost films of Marissa Marcel and traverse decades of movie history”.

The game was well received by critics, earning it scores of 87 (PC) and 88 (Xbox) on review aggregation site Metacritic, and it was nominated for a string of awards.

Notable awards it won included the Narrative prize at the 19th BAFTA Games Awards and the Innovation prize at the 23rd Game Developers Choice Awards.

“From the inception of this project, the goal has been sharing Marissa Marcel’s life and work with as large an audience as possible,” said game director Barlow. “So I am thrilled to bring Immortality to PlayStation gamers and bring them face to face with a lost legend.”
