PS5 Pro Disc Drive Is Sold Out At Most Retailers, But Walmart Has It (For Now)

With the PS5 Pro releasing this week on November 7, existing PS5 owners with a library of physical games will want to pick up the official PS5 Disc Drive, if you haven’t already. The PS5 Pro’s GPU boasts up to 45% faster rendering, AI-driven upscaling, advanced ray tracing, and a 2TB SSD–double the storage space of previous PS5 models. What it doesn’t have, however, is a disc drive. Out of the box, all of the games you install will need to be purchased and downloaded from the PlayStation Store–unless you buy the official Disc Drive accessory for $80.

As of November 5, Walmart is the only major retailer with the $80 Disc Drive in stock and available to everyone. We say “everyone” because GameStop has the Disc Drive in stock as well, but it’s locked behind the retailer’s paid Pro membership. The PS5 Disc Drive is sold out at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target.

If you haven’t preordered the PS5 Pro, the good news is you can still snag a preorder for the $700 console at major retailers. With the exception of Amazon, major retailers are still offering delivery on or shortly after release (within a day or two). If you preorder from Amazon, you won’t have to wait that long for your console to arrive. Amazon’s delivery estimate as of November 5 is Monday, November 11. Best Buy is the only retailer offering in-store pickup for online PS5 Pro preorders. Check out our PS5 Pro preorder guide for more details on the upgraded console.
