PS5 Pro comes with an exclusive system theme

The PlayStation 5 Pro includes an exclusive PS5 theme for the system’s welcome page.

The console, which is released today, includes a welcome hub theme depicting a stylized version of the console’s internal components.

The theme, which can be viewed below, is animated and can be selected from the welcome hub menu, alongside other non-exclusive backgrounds.

PS5 Pro launched on Thursday priced at $700 / £700 / €800. Images comparing the size of the console to the PS5 launch model and the Slim version were released this week.

So too was the full list of PS5 titles that will benefit from the upgraded PS5 Pro hardware. In total, 55 games will feature graphical enhancements like advanced ray tracing, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and improved framerates of 60hz or 120hz on day one.

In a recent interview, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s platform business group CEO Hideaki Nishino said PS5 Pro development started before the PS5 launched in November 2020.

Nishino added that Sony never releases new hardware without already planning what its successor could end up becoming.

“We’re kind of happy to see [that] most engaged gaming users are interested in the PS5 Pro, and then I’m pretty sure new users will grab the PS5 Pro as well,” he said. “If it’s the PlayStation you want to get, that’s the thing. So that’s where we designed the generation at this moment.

“We design everything with having one ahead in our mind. It’s not like we just make a next step and we don’t know about the two steps ahead. That’s not our way of working, because we need to make sure that the 10-year-old generation cycle continues to be going as well.”
