Nintendo has released a Mario vs. Donkey Kong demo

Nintendo has released a Mario vs. Donkey Kong demo on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

The free demo contains four levels from the first world of the final game, according to Nintendo.

The demo also gives players a first look at the new Two Player mode, where they can share Joy-Con controllers with a friend and team up as Mario and Toad.

Demo players will also have access to the game’s new difficulty settings in single-player mode, Classic and Casual styles.

Based on the 2004 original for Game Boy Advance, Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a 2D platformer with puzzle elements, planned for release for Switch on February 16.

VGC wrote in a recent Mario vs. Donkey Kong preview: “While the presentation still doesn’t feel quite right in the remake – it’s like an external team using brand guidelines to come up with ‘something Mario’ – there are some significant additions here.

“Thankfully, while most of its early levels are virtually identical to the original, the game’s fourth world is entirely new to the Switch version – the first of two new worlds in the remake – and it does introduce some original mechanics.”
