Nicolas Cage Will Play Live-Action Spider-Man In New Series
In 2018, Nicolas Cage lent his voice to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as Spider-Man Noir, a version of Peter Parker from an alternate world in the 1930s. Now, six years later, Cage will reprise his role for Noir, a new live-action series based on Spider-Man Noir.
The series is being produced by MGM+ and Prime Video in association with Sony Pictures Television. The description of the show doesn’t mention Spider-Man or Peter Parker, but it does say that “Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”
Into the Spider-Verse’s Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal are attached to Noir as executive producers. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will be the co-showrunners, while Harry Bradbeer is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce the series.
“Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers,” said Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television, Vernon Sanders. “The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.”
Noir will premiere in the United States on MGM+, and it will be available globally on Prime Video. At the moment, Noir does not have a premiere date.
