New Avowed details revealed in 27-minute video, including third-person mode

Obsidian has revealed fresh Avowed gameplay footage and details in a new 27-minute video.

Game director Carrie Patel appeared on the latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast, which is viewable above, to offer a deep dive into the upcoming game.

Avowed was announced in July 2020 as a first-person fantasy action RPG set in the world of Eora, which was originally introduced in Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity series.

However, among other details revealed in today’s podcast, Patel confirmed that the game has a third-person camera mode.

“A lot of the footage we’re going to see today is in first-person, but we do have a third-person option for players who prefer it,” she said.

“The last few months at Obsidian Entertainment have been fast-paced and exciting. Since we saw you at the Xbox Developer Direct this past January, we’ve been busy with Avowed getting it ready for release on November 12, 2024,” a message from game director Patel originally read.

However, soon after publication the article was updated to remove reference to the game’s release date.
