Marvel Veteran Says Unexpected Return In Deadpool And Wolverine Was A “Dream Come True”
Now that Deadpool and Wolverine is in theaters, the actors who had to stay quiet about their cameo appearances have finally been able to speak up about their roles. One of the returning cast members is a performer who has had two separate stints in Marvel films that collectively go back almost two decades. And he wants to make sure everyone knows how much he appreciated the chance to revisit his first superhero role.
Warning: The following contains spoilers about one of Deadpool and Wolverine’s surprise cameos. If you haven’t seen the movie or don’t want to know which character appeared or who plays him, stop reading now.
Via Variety, Chris Evans shared an Instagram story with a picture of himself in costume as Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch alongside Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy on the set of Deadpool and Wolverine. Evans also passed along the following message.
“Thank you to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy for letting me be a part of such an incredible movie! They’re three of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. Special thank you to Ryan for making it all happen. Playing Johnny again was a dream come true and he’ll always have a special place in my heart.”
Evans portrayed Human Torch in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and in its 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Four years later, Evans starred in Captain America and played the role of Steve Rogers through the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Another one of Deadpool’s secret performers shared his thanks for Reynolds earlier this week, and he and Evans weren’t the only surprising Marvel cameos in the film.
