Heads-Up, Steam Deck Players: Samsung Finally Has 1TB MicroSD Cards
Samsung has released new 1TB capacity models of its Pro Plus and Evo Select microSD cards. These are Samsung’s first 1TB microSD cards, making them perfect for anyone looking to maximize their smartphone, Steam Deck, or Nintendo Switch’s storage space. You can order new 1TB microSD cards from Amazon and Samsung’s online store, and the Evo Select model is available at a special $90 launch deal price (normally $100). It’s temporarily out of stock at Amazon, but you can still order it and it’ll ship once available. The 1TB Pro Plus model is in stock and available for $120.
Both of these 1TB Samsung cards have U3 ratings (Ultra-High Speed Class 3). These are high performance cards with fast enough transfer speeds to write and read 4K video. Either of these cards will work great with your Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch, too. The Pro Plus offers a moderate bump in average transfer speed, as it’s capable of writing up to 180MB/s versus the Evo Select’s 160MB/s.
The 1TB Evo Select, in particular, offers pretty great value at $90. You’re getting a card that’s faster than the 1TB SanDisk Ultra–the most popular microSD card–for roughly the same price. Samsung’s Pro Plus cards are excellent, but it is on the pricier side compared to both the Evo Select and cards with comparable speeds from competitors, such as the SanDisk Extreme, which is discounted to $92.60 and offers up to 190MB/s transfer speeds.
Along with these new models, the previous 512GB versions of each model are on sale at Amazon. The 512GB Pro Plus card is getting the bigger discount, dropping down to just $45 from its normal $75 price, but the Evo Select model’s nearly 30% discount is still worth considering, cutting the price to $40 (was $56).
More 1TB microSD Card Deals
While it’s great that Samsung finally has 1TB microSD cards, it’s certainly not the first company to offer memory cards of that size. 1TB cards are available from several other manufacturers, and, as mentioned above, at more affordable prices than Samsung’s new 1TB options. We’ve rounded up a selection of 1TB microSD cards below, all of which are compatible with Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch.
