Halo Season 2 Is Set To Tell A “Darker” Story With Better Dialogue

Halo Season 2 will have a darker story with better dialogue. In an interview with SFX magazine, with an extract republished in GamesRadar, actor Pablo Schreiber said the upcoming season will have more intense action sequences. Moreover, Master Chief John-117’s writing is seemingly getting stronger.

“I think [David Wiener, Halo’s new showrunner] is just a more gifted writer, to be quite frank,” Schreiber told SFX. “I think his dialogue is better. He puts words in the mouth that feel more appropriate for the character.”

The actor emphasizes that Halo Season 2 is stronger than the first. The new art director, James Foster, plays a part in this, creating “a visual world that just makes a lot more sense,” with a focus on a cinematic feeling. “It’s just a better season, period,” Schreiber added.

Kiki Wolfkill, one of Halo’s executive producers, isn’t calling the show a soft reboot, but says there was intent to reset the state of the world. “It was a goal to do a few things. One was really to start to shift tonally to a place that was a little more grounded and grittier, but still with the big spectacle of Halo and sci-fi,” she tells SFX.

The first two episodes of Halo Season 2 will be available via Paramount Plus on February 8. The first season was available for free in late last year, but the videos have been hidden since. If you’re wondering what to expect before catching up, Chris E. Hayner said the following in our Halo review: “Halo is a show that shouldn’t work, in the grand scheme of things. After over seven years of development–including showrunner, director, and network changes–it’s actually surprising that it exists at all. Thankfully, it does, though.”
