Guerrilla’s Horizon online game reportedly not among cancelled Sony projects

Guerrilla’s multiplayer Horizon game is reportedly not among a number of recently cancelled PlayStation titles.

Earlier this week, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced plans to lay off 900 employees worldwide, or about 8% or its workforce.

In addition to the planned closure of PlayStation London Studio, it confirmed that jobs would be lost at studios including Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Firesprite and Guerrilla.

Commenting on the restructuring, PlayStation Studios head and former Guerrilla managing director Hermen Hulst said the company was “reevaluating” how it operates and that unnamed projects had been cancelled.

Following the announcement, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that a Twisted Metal live service game previously in development at Firesprite had been axed.

Guerrilla officially announced in December 2022 that it was working on an online game set in the Horizon universe, featuring “a new cast of characters and a unique stylised look”.

The Amsterdam, Netherlands-based studio will reportedly lay off about 10% of its over 400 employees as part of the cuts announced this week by Sony.
