Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle remasters rated for PS5
Grim Fandango Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Full Throttle Remastered look set to be released for PlayStation 5.
As spotted by Gematsu, Double Fine’s remasters of the classic LucasArts adventure games have been rated for Sony’s console in Taiwan, seemingly ahead of an official reveal.
Grim Fandango Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Full Throttle Remastered were released in 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively.
They were originally made available for PS4, Vita and PC before making their way to other platforms later.
They didn’t arrive on Xbox until the year after Microsoft announced its acquisition of Double Fine, with the games joining Game Pass for console, PC and Android in October 2020.
Originally released in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a time travel puzzle adventure game which sees players attempt to stop a purple tentacle with a thirst for world domination.
First released in 1995, Full Throttle is a graphic adventure game which tells the story of biker gang leader Ben Throttle, “who gets caught up in a tale of motorcycles, mayhem, and murder”. It was Double Fine founder Tim Schafer’s first game as project lead.
One of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time, 1998’s Grim Fandango combines film noir and Mexican folklore as it tells the story of four years in the after-life of Manny Calavera, travel agent at the Department of Death.
