Fable developer Playground Games has seemingly opened a third studio

Fable developer Playground Games appears to have opened a third studio.

As spotted by Wccftech, the UK developer’s LinkedIn page makes reference to three studios, all of which are based in Leamington Spa.

“Today, Playground has three world-class studios in Leamington Spa,” the developer’s About tab on LinkedIn reads.

“In our original HQ, we continue to support and grow the huge, vibrant Horizon community. In our new studios on the other side of town, we are excited to be developing Fable, a new beginning for the legendary franchise.”

This is different to the About page on the official Playground Games website, which still makes reference to just two studios.

It’s not yet clear how the third studio differs from the others, or how many staff are working there.

Playground Games – which is usually best known for the Forza Horizon series of open-world racing games – also confirmed that it’s been collaborating with Eidos Montreal on the game.

The last Eidos Montreal game released was 2021’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which was met with a generally positive critical response but didn’t meet Square Enix’s sales expectations.
