EA Sports FC 24 and GTA 5 topped July’s European games charts

EA Sports FC 24 and GTA 5 were the highest-selling games in July in Europe.

The news comes from GfK data (via GamesIndustry.biz). July’s UEFA European Championships are likely the cause for EA FC 24 taking the top spot, alongside the generally quiet period for new releases.

EA Sports FC 24 managed to sell 46% more than FIFA 23 earned in the same period last year, according to GI.

The highest charting new game was EA Sports College Football 25, which entered the charts at number 7. The game, which  was the first new entry in the college football sub-series in over a decade, has proven to be a viral hit, with major celebrities and prominent gaming podcasts talking about it.

PlayStation Portal was the top-selling accessory in Europe this month.

The PlayStation Portal was the month’s best-selling accessory, with the white DualSense coming in second.

“In the UK, the Sony Playstation Portal Remote Player has been consistently the No1 or No2 best-selling gaming accessory by revenue since launch in November 2023,” reveals Dorian Bloch, GfK’s games lead. “Only in January this year was it outside the top two due to stock issues.”
