EA says largest Battlefield team yet is building ‘another tremendous live service’
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson has said that future Battlefield experiences are being developed by the biggest team in the franchise’s history.
The company announced last month that Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons studio Motive was joining its wider Battlefield development team.
Motive is working alongside fellow EA studios DICE, Criterion and Ripple Effect to create “a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer experiences and single-player”, the publisher said.
And during the company’s quarterly earnings call on Tuesday, EA boss Wilson said he recently had the chance to experience some of the fruits of their labour.
“This is the largest Battlefield team in franchise history. A few weeks ago, I was visiting with the teams, and I couldn’t be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play.”
He later added: “I’ve just spent a whole bunch of time with the collective Battlefield team playing what they’re building and it is going to be another tremendous live service.”
EA recently confirmed that Battlefield 2042 Season 7 – Turning Point, which launched in March, will be the game’s last.
As part of today’s earnings results, EA has confirmed plans to release two unannounced games during its current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025.
It said that one of the titles is from a third-party developer, while the other is based on an owned IP. The latter is reportedly Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
