Baldur’s Gate 3’s director says he’s worked out the first act of his next project

Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke says he’s made significant progress drafting the first act of an upcoming project.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 director shared the news in an update on X (formerly Twitter), but he told fans not to expect an official announcement about the title in the near future.

“Been a great morning! After 4 months of rewriting and rewriting and abandoning ideas and then revisiting them, finally figured out what act 1 on this thing I’ve been working on needs to be,” he wrote.

While Vincke said he’s yet to share this work with anyone else, he’s really happy with it and expects others to like it too.

“Quote me when it’s revealed to see how much of today’s draft survives. I suspect a lot.”

While keen to share news about his progress publicly, he added: “Also – it’s not what you think and this is not an teaser for an announcement. Just am genuinely excited about where this is going and wanted to share some of my excitement. It’ll be quite some time before we talk about this.”

Speaking in December after it was confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 had been nominated for eight prizes at The Game Awards, Vincke said: “I wish I could tell you about our next big game but this is really encouraging us to ensure it pushes many boundaries. I’m very excited about it.”
