Annapurna is co-financing Control 2, will bring Remedy IP including Alan Wake to film and TV

Remedy has announced that Annapurna will be co-financing Control 2, and bringing Remedy IP to TV and movies.

A statement on the official Remedy website says that Annapurna will be contributing financially to the development of Control 2.

The company will also be bringing Remedy IP, including Control and Alan Wake, to “film, TV and beyond”.

Explaining the deal, communications director Thomas Puha said: “Above all it means Remedy is able to make Control 2 exactly the game we want it to be, while we now also have an incredible partner to extend our IPs to other mediums.”

Puha also announced that Remedy will still be publishing Control 2 itself, despite Annapurna’s game publishing arm.

“The Control 2 development team is working full steam ahead on the game,” he added. “We know you are eager for news on the game (and Condor!), but you are going to have to wait a while for that.”

Remedy creative director Sam Lake said: “I’m absolutely thrilled by this opportunity to expand the story of Alan Wake and our whole Remedy Connected Universe to mediums beyond games, and to build all of this in close collaboration, games, film, TV, and other mediums as well, as one unified vision.

“I trust Annapurna are the perfect partner for us to make this dream come true.”

Annapurna’s president of interactive and new media Hector Sanchez added: “This deal with Remedy isn’t just about adapting great games, it’s about breaking new ground in how companies can collaborate.

“By backing Remedy’s move toward self-publishing, we’re putting our faith in their vision. We know from experience that Remedy is a first-class games development partner, and we’re excited to share their work with an even wider audience by bringing the Control and Alan Wake universes to film, television and beyond.”
