Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is coming to the Switch in July

Bandai Namco has announced that Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will be coming to the Switch in July.

The game was released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2019, but the new port will mark the series’ first appearance on the Switch.

The Switch version will be dubbed the Deluxe Edition and will come with a selection of previously released DLC included in the package, most of which consists of the Season Pass content from the other versions.

According to Bandai Namco, the Deluxe Edition DLC consists of:

  • The base Ace Combat 7 game
  • Three aircraft sets: ADF-11F Raven Set, ADF-01 FALKEN Set, ADFX-01 Morgan Set
  • Three new missions: Unexpected Visitor, Anchorhead Raid, Ten Million Relief Plan
  • Music Player mode
  • Playable F-104C Avril aircraft
  • Playable F-4E Phantom II aircraft
  • Three aircraft skins from past games in the series
  • Eight emblems from past games in the series

The PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of Ace Combat 7 featured more DLC than this, but Bandai Namco says the rest of the DLC will be made available for the Switch version after release (though it will cost money).

Ace Combat 7 was generally critically acclaimed, with Metacritic scores of 80 and 79 for the PS4 and Xbox One versions respectively.

Although it’s the first Ace Combat game to be released on the Switch, it’s not the first Ace Combat on a Nintendo system. A spin-off called Ace Combat Advance was released on the GBA in 2005.

A 3DS remake of the Ace Combat 2, which was titled Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, was also released in 2011. This was later given an updated release in 2015 which added support for amiibo figures.
