VGC is now on Patreon, where you can gain access to exclusive extra video, podcast, and community content, and help support our work.

VGC was formed in 2019, formed by a team who have been covering the games industry for decades on websites like CVG and magazines like Official Nintendo Magazine, OXM and more.

Thanks to your support, we were able to build a new home for our news, reviews and opinion on an independent publication, delivering regular exclusives and original reporting on the games industry.

But it’s no secret that recently it’s been a difficult time for journalism, especially around video games. Site closures and job losses have become all too common fixtures in headlines, while those who remain have been increasingly pressured to focus more on keeping the lights on, and less on creating the content readers actually want to see.

As an entirely independent publication, VGC has felt these market pressures more than most. Despite our audience going from strength to strength, the advertising climate on which we solely rely for our business has become increasingly challenging, while Google and social media platforms are more volatile than ever.

Today, by building a direct relationship with VGC on Patreon, you can help us continue to do what we do best across breaking news, insightful reviews and thoughtful opinions, while giving us the foundation to create more of the podcasts, videos, and community features you enjoy.

Through our Patreon tiers, you’ll have access to two new monthly podcasts, a newsletter, a Discord server, special commenting privileges on VGC website articles, and more, while all of our regular content remains free for all.

We’re launching today with a bunch of great content, but we also have loads more planned for the future, and we’re excited about how this new model can help us shape VGC’s future.

At the end of the year, we’re planning to announce details on the first VGC book. We’re also continuing to partner with global games events like Gamescom, Gamescom Asia, and Bitsummit, to provide live coverage and reaction what’s next in gaming.
