Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2’s launch has been delayed

Epic Games has delayed today’s Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 launch.

Originally scheduled for release this morning, Season 2: Myths & Mortals is now not expected to launch before 2.15pm PT / 5.15pm ET / 10.15pm GMT.

“Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours,” the company said on X.

“We apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to drop into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale.

“The team is working through this as quickly as possible, and we’ll provide another update when we have more info.”

Myths & Mortals is largely themed around Greek mythology. New locations being added to the game’s map include Mount Olympus, Grim Gate, The Underworld and Brawler’s Battleground.

New weapons include the Gatekeeper Shotgun, which players can acquire by defeating Cerberus, the Harbinger SMG, which can be gained by defeating Hades, and the Thunderbolt of Zeus.

Discounts set to be included in the Epic Games Store’s Spring Sale leaked earlier today, ahead of the promotion’s anticipated launch next week.

Next week’s Epic Games Store giveaways were announced on Thursday. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and logic puzzle game The Bridge will be free to claim from Epic’s PC marketplace from March 14-21.

They’ll replace Astro Duel 2, which was released yesterday for PC and Nintendo Switch, and is currently free to claim from the Epic Games Store until March 14.
