A Crew Member On Marvel’s Wonder Man Has Died On Set



A crew member on Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man has died in an accident on set, THR reports. The crew member was a rigger who fell from the rafters while working on the Wonder Man set at the Radford Studio Center in Los Angeles. The show was not filming on Tuesday, when the accident occured, but crew members were in to work on the set.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” Marvel Studios said in a statement. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) is investigating the accident.

IATSE, who represent on-set workers, shared its own statement on the crew member’s death. “Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues,” IATSE president Matthew D. Loeb said. “Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. The L.A. County coroner has since identified the deceased as rigger Juan Carlos Osorio from Temple City, as reported by Variety. Friends of Osorio, who went by the nickname Spike, have created a GoFundMe to benefit Osorio’s widow, who also works in the film industry as a boom operator.

Wonder Man is an upcoming Marvel Studios TV series for Disney+, which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the titular role. The production was paused during the dual writers and actors strikes, and only just resumed filming in January this year.
