Path Of Exile 2: How To Open The Memorial Gate In The Cemetery
One of the earlier quests in Act 1 of Path of Exile 2 is called “The Mysterious Shade,” and it requires you to open a Memorial Gate in the Cemetery of the Eternals. Here, you’re searching for the Count’s Grave and attempting to help a man named Lachlann find peace. When you first enter the cemetery, the Memorial Gate will be locked, and you will need two keys to open it.
Naturally, you have to find those two keys if you want to progress in the quest. To see where those keys are located and how to open the gate, keep reading the guide below.
Opening the Memorial Gate in Path of Exile 2
For starters, the Memorial Gate is located just south of the Waypoint when you enter the Cemetery of the Eternals. It’s not highlighted or anything, but it’s a large gate that leads to a pathway.
The two keys you need to find to open the Memorial Gate are located in two separate dungeons, both found within the cemetery area. One of the dungeons is called the “Tomb of the Consort,” and the other is called the “Mausoleum of the Praetor.”
Both dungeons are relatively close to the Waypoint in the cemetery, but you can see a screenshot of their exact locations below:
The Tomb of the Consort is likely the first dungeon you’ll come across, being only a little northeast of the cemetery Waypoint. The Mausoleum of the Praetor is found northwest of the Tomb of the Consort, right next to a checkpoint.
How to get keys for the Memorial Gate
To find the keys inside each of the dungeons, you need to enter both of them and make your way through to the end. As you might expect, there are plenty of enemies to fight along the way, but the end of the dungeon spawns a boss fight.
As you enter each dungeon, you’ll progress a secondary quest in Path of Exile 2 called “Sorrow Among Stones.” Sorrow Among Stones is only completed after you defeat both of the dungeon bosses and help Lachlann, who you found at the beginning of the Cemetery of the Eternals.
In the Tomb of the Consort, you’ll find Asinia, the Praetor’s Consort as the final boss. In the Mausoleum of the Praetor, Draven, the Eternal Praetor is waiting for you at the end of the dungeon. Both bosses aren’t overly difficult, but they do both show up in each other’s boss fight, giving you two enemies to deal with.
After defeating both bosses, you’ll be able to pick up a “Key Piece” as a green drop. Green drops are always quest items and it’s hard to miss lying on the ground once the boss is dead. Collecting both of the green key drops will allow you to open the Memorial Gate back at the start of the Cemetery of the Eternals. The Sorrow Among Stones quest will also update to say this when both keys have been collected.
With the two Key Pieces, head back to the Memorial Gate just south of the cemetery Waypoint, interact with it, and you’ll be able to guide Lachlann through. This doesn’t end The Mysterious Shade or Sorrow Among Stones quests, though, as you have one more boss fight to go.
