A Monster Hunter Wilds open beta launches next week with early access for PlayStation Plus members

Capcom has announced a Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test.

It’s coming PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam this month, with early access for PlayStation Plus members starting on October 28.

The second stage of the beta, which kicks off on October 31, won’t require a PlayStation Plus membership, or a Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription.

The beta will support cross-play on all platforms and have three parts to it: the complete character creation tool, a story trial, and the free-roaming Doshaguma Hunt.

Players will be able to carry over their character creation data into the full version of the game when it’s released on February 28, 2025.

The story trial will let players experience the opening cutscene and play through the Chatacabra hunt with basic tutorials.

“In the Doshaguma Hunt, the goal is to defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack,” Capcom said. “Explore the vast locale on your Seikret and switch between two different weapon types on the fly as you experience the latest in hunting action.”

“Both the story trial and Doshaguma Hunt can be experienced solo, or players can use an SOS flare to create a party of up to four players online, or call in assistance from NPC Support Hunters.”

Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced the beta on Tuesday during a digital showcase for the game, which was also used to premiere a new trailer. The presentation can be rewatched in full via the YouTube video at the top of this article.
